REMNANTS

Just like that,

The remnants remained

Like ashes

Left from a raging fire,

Like echoes

In an empty room,

Like waves

That crashed!

But NEVER returned.

Remnants.

We no longer feel,

We no longer laugh,

We no longer aspire.

DEAD!

Only silence speaks to us now.

What was once passion has turned to stone.

The joy?

Gone

Replaced by hatred crawling through our veins.

The jokes?

Faded…

Replaced by a cold stare.

The friendship?

Split like a fallen tree.

The love?

Drifted away like a lost boat at sea.

What’s left of the joy?

Remnants

Sweet words now taste like rust.

The trust?

Shattered.

The pain?

Endless.

Anxiety wraps around our days.

Dear God:

Depression lingers,

Heavy and deep.

My mind keeps racing,

Sleep is a stranger.

Remnants

They left,

But I remained,

Trying to heal

Yet the scars still ache.

Remnants.
