Internal Struggles

She had not felt in a long time.
She had become numb
Numb to love,
Numb to family,
Numb to friends,
Numb to work,
Numb to emotions.
Anxiety gnawed at her chest each day,
An unrelenting force that refused to loosen its grip.
Her body fought,
But her churning mind always won.
She battled,
She fought,
But her churning mind always won.
Depression devoured her soul,
Stripping away every ounce of joy.
She was once happy and carefree,
But now she was left with:
Anger,
Regret,
Shame,
Hate,
Resentment.
On the outside, she was poised,
Seemingly untouched by the darkness within her.
Dead inside,
She felt empty
LIFELESS,
Misunderstood.
The unknown terrified her,
But the known left her disappointed.
She tried,
But deep down, she was still hollow.
Counseling.
Medication.
Talking.
But deep down,
She remained
Dead inside!
She yearned to heal,
A silent cry,
But for now, she remained
Dead inside.
